MARY JENNIE (ROBBINS) PERRY (Biographical data abstracted from Worcester, Massachusetts and Thompson, Connecticut vital records, associated census records and a book entitled "The Descendants of John Perry of London", compiled by Bertram Adams and published by Utah Printing Company, Salt Lake City, 1955) Re: The Nicholas Robbins Family, No. 7.9.9

 

Mary Jennie Robbins, daughter of Zenas Robbins and Chloe Bates, was born January 13, 1849 at Thompson, Windham County, Connecticut. She married Moses Perry on May 26, 1870 at Worcester, Massachusetts in a double wedding ceremony with her older brother, George Luther Robbins, who married Harriet Newell Perry. Moses was a younger brother of Harriet, both being the children of Samuel Perry and Mary Harrington. Moses was born July 15, 1843 at Worcester. Following marriage Mary and Moses resided in Worcester, where Moses was a farmer. They remained in the Worcester area the rest of their lives. Mary Jennie (Robbins) Perry passed away on April 30, 1922 at Worcester. Moses Perry followed on August 27, 1924. The children recorded to this couple included:

 

1.  Alice Jennie Perry was born August 22, 1871 at Worcester. She married William H. Bowman on September 17, 1896 at Worcester. William was born at Elmira, New York on January 28, 1867, the son of Henry and Emma (Sheely) Bowman. William was in the leather trade and operated a belting business in Worcester. Alice and William had two 

children: Emily Robbins Bowman, born in 1898 at Worcester and Edith Elizabeth Bowman, born in 1908, also at Worcester. William H. Bowman died at Worcester on June 17, 1928. Wife Alice died at South Duxbury, Massachusetts on July 24, 1943.

 

2.  Edith Marion Perry was born October 10, 1873 at Worcester. She married Arthur E. Barlow on April 19, 1899 at Worcester. Arthur Edgar Barlow was the son of Henry and Emeline (Hill) Barlow, born September 20, 1862 in Ware, Massachusetts. Arthur was a real estate broker in Worcester. This couple had one child, Esther Perry Barlow, born in 1901 at Worcester. Edith died on July 27, 1940 at Worcester. According to the above-referenced Perry family history, Arthur survived her and was still living when the history was compiled.

 

3.  Everett Robbins Perry was born on October 5, 1876 at Worcester. He married Lilla Gertrude Simmons on June 16, 1905 at New Bedford, Massachusetts. Lilla was born in Whitinsville, Massachusetts on March 27, 1882, daughter of William and Emma (Nelson) Simmons. This couple had five children: Richard W. Perry, born in 1910; Edward C. Perry, born in 1912; Dorothy P. Perry, born in 1913; Norman C. Perry, born in 1915; and Beatrice V. Perry, born in 1918. Everett was a librarian in Massachusetts and California for twenty-eight years. He died in Los Angeles on October 30, 1933. According to the above-referenced Perry family history, Lilla survived him and was still living when the history was compiled.

 

4.  Samuel Robbins Perry was born December 6, 1877 in Worcester. He assisted his parents with the farm. According to the above-referenced Perry family history, Samuel remained single and died at Worcester in the Fall of 1946.
